Dear Parents or Guardians,
Your child has developed many wonderful habits and new skills in First Grade. The purpose of this letter is to provide you with some suggestions to help maintain those study habits and skills.
I have attached a reading list, book report forms, and supply list. Please remember that his or her reading list is only a suggestion and that you may find additional choices at the library and or bookstore.
Your child should hand in three written book reports the first day of school and a list of books she or he read over the summer.
Please set aside a time each day for your child to practice addition and subtraction facts. In September the children will be doing daily drills to see how many facts they can do in one minute. One of the best ways to reinforce these skills and to make it fun is through games. Playing card, dice and computer games are some suggestions as well as flash cards.
Thank you for all your help,
Mrs. Quilter
